Established since 1863 in the heart of the Borderies vineyards, on the family estate of La Gîte in Saint-Laurent-de-Cognac, Camus embodies the spirit of a lineage of visionary French winegrowers. Over the generations, the family has elevated the House to stand among the great English and Irish dynasties established in the Cognac region long before them. Guided by a philosophy that combines refinement, expertise and respect for time, the House is committed to passing on this precious heritage to future generations.
Maison Camus has chosen to distil all of its wines on the lees, without filtration, in order to naturally concentrate the aromas present in the wine. This distillation process is combined with a proprietary method that the House alone practices and has patented: INTENSITY. In this process, the first 20 litres are kept aside. These have a high concentration of esters and bring intense fruity aromas. The most aromatic litres are tasted individually and then added to the final distillate. As a result, the cognacs are up to seven times more aromatic than those produced through a classic double distillation.
