We are pleased to announce that we have taken over the distribution of Amarula, the iconic South African liqueur crafted from the marula fruit, a symbol of the country’s rich and wild natural environment.
Amarula’s story is closely linked to Africa’s majestic elephants. Each year, during their migrations, they feast on the marula fruit, which grows wild across South Africa. It is from this unique fruit that Amarula was first created in 1963. In 1989, the addition of cream to the recipe gave birth to the famous Amarula Cream liqueur, now recognised worldwide.
Hand-harvested marula fruits are transformed into marula wine, then distilled and matured for two years in French oak casks. Cream is then added, bringing a smooth texture and indulgent notes of vanilla, spices and caramel.
Amarula is also committed to preserving its natural environment through the Amarula Trust, an initiative dedicated to protecting African elephants, supporting local communities and developing sustainable programmes.
