Founded in 1883, the Komasa Jyozo Distillery is located in Kagoshima Prefecture in Japan. This mountainous region on the coast is home to its own flora and fauna, including some of the most spectacular plants in the country.
Like many distilleries in Japan, Komasa Jyozo initially found success by producing traditional alcohols. Famous for the quality of its shochus, the Komasa Jyozo Distillery is writing a new chapter in its story with the enthusiastic launch of new types of spirits.
Continually striving to reach the highest levels of excellence, the distillery initially focused its attention on the production of gin. Although gin is relatively inexpensive and easy to make, the Komasa Jyozo Distillery made sure the spirit got the full care it deserved. Drawing from its 130 years of experience as distillers, the distillery was uncompromising in its choice of raw materials, which had to be of local origin and symbolic of Japanese heritage. One taste is enough to recognize the lofty ambitions of this new generation at the helm of Komasa Jyozo.
